Adrian Kinderis to open the ICANN session on New gTLD's15 June 2009
Melbourne, Australia: AusRegistry International CEO Adrian Kinderis is set to open the new gTLD session at the upcoming ICANN conference to be held in Sydney, Australia from the 21st to the 26th of June.
Entitled 'New gTLDs, Managing a Registry and Best Practises', this session has been organised by ICANN to provide the community with a wide range of information relating to the new gTLD program and will include presentations from industry experts from a wide range of domain name industry sectors.
AusRegistry International was invited to share our experiences in managing registries and discuss practical aspects of operating a registry. Other topics covered in the session include security and scalability, whether it is more appropriate to build or buy when starting up a registry and IDN's (Internationalised Domain Names).
As the CEO of AusRegistry International and co-founder of AusRegistry Pty Ltd, the current operator of the .au ccTLD, Kinderis has been heavily involved in the Domain name industry for nearly ten years and is a current member of the Generic Names Supporting Organisation (GNSO), the ICANN group responsible for the inception of the new gTLD program.
"I am thrilled to be invited to speak at this session," said Adrian Kinderis today. "These sessions are the ideal place to provide entrepreneurs and corporations with the information they need to overcome this complex process and make their TLD dreams a reality. There are many factors when looking at new TLDs and it's important that we take as many opportunities as possible to educate the wider community of this upcoming program."
The expansion of the generic top-level domains (gTLDs), currently represented by 21 gTLD such as .com, .net and .tel, will allow for more innovation and choice in the Internet's addressing system and is a substantial innovation for end users.
Early 2010, entrepreneurs and corporations from around the world will be able to apply for their own TLD and if they wish, select an Internationalised Domain Name (IDN) where domains can be registered in languages other than English.
Kinderis continued, "Of recent times, many of our customers have commented on some of the complexities in the process and expressed a desire for additional information and expert advice. These sorts of meetings are crucial to helping these sorts of people and I look forward to showing all of our friends around our beautiful country."
This session is open to the public and anyone considering applying for a new gTLD should attend to hear all of the up to date information.
The session will be held from 16.00-17.30 at the Hilton Hotel on Monday 22nd of June in function room 4-5 on level 4.
